Recently it has come to our attention that several members have received private messages telling them to visit some linked site because spam was found on their computer or similar message variants. These messages also frequently threaten consequences on Notebook Forums like account deletion if the link is not visited and are signed by "Forum Administrator notebookforums.com"

THESE ARE NOT FROM NOTEBOOK FORUMS

We do not and cannot know if you have a virus or spam on your computer and we will never ever threaten you with account deletion if you don't visit a link. Genuine private messages from forum administrators will be from a member with a red username and will relate to your questions or activities on the forums. The admins who you are most likely to hear from are sRc, Steve, qhn, and myself (Djembe). In addition, you will receive a private message from the automated admin account Notebook Forums when you are given credits.

If you receive a private message from someone claiming to be an admin that tells you to go to an outside link, report the incident immediately to an admin (like one of the 4 people I mentioned in the previous paragraph) and we will ban the impersonating user.

We apologize that several of you have received these types of spam PMs and we thank you for your help in identifying and banning those who sent them.
