I have a Sager 4880 which has a x700. I have tried running the Ubuntu live cd but i always have the same problem when trying to run it, whenever it gets to detecting PC card utilities it always crashes. I have so far figured out that this is probably because of my graphics card which is a mobility x700. So my question for you guys is what can i do to get linux to run? Should I install old drivers or just give up?
Thanks for you help.

Hello,
I suggest starting at this site (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-304391.html) and going from there. They have multiple people who managed to get the x700 working with linux (Gentoo). However, the steps should be the same for other distros.

Acutally, its a problem with your acpi and/or pcmcia. Run the acpi=off option at the boot screen, e.g.: ubuntu acpi=off
That should let you run it, but in text mode, as ubuntu has issues with our x700s
