hello im wondering if it's possible to install freebsd onto a lappy has anyone done it b4?

I don't see why not in a basic sense, but you will not be able to take advantage of all your hardware. FreeBSD doesn't support the amount of hardware Linux does.

I'm working on it now on a 4760 but its going to take me a while I'm kinda relearning it since ver 3.0 back in the day.

ok got bsd installed and it even booted into x windows under generic configuration. I am going to be installing if i can find drivers for the graphic card and seeing if i can get the 1400 x 900 resolution id like to have. RIght now its running 1024 x 768 and it is a little stretched.

freebsd is up and runing now, All i had to do to get the 1400 x 900 rez running was to edit my resolution manually in /etx/X11/ Xf86Config file.

Im wotking on sound now and hopefully the internal wireless card.

does the linux radeon drivers work? they never listed they needed the linux kernel

i havent installed them yet im hoping someone will make it a little easier but im going to be doing it this weekend as i cant live without acceleration. Well i can but why

I have 4.9-stable w/ KDE 3.1 installed on my gateway solo 9500. p3 850mhz 128mb ram 30 gig hdd. works just fine.

PC-BSD....its still imature but looks very good, i tried it just over a month ago on my lappy. from what i could find, there are no radeon drivers for bsd....thats why i am back on linux
