Post your CPU/GPU/HDD... temps here :)

Oh, and remember to post your system specifications too

1 HDD System, 512MB RAM (important when considering HDD access)

Normal Use:
CPU - 50C (6x @ 0.700V)
GPU - 61C
HDD - 42C

Gaming:
CPU - 56C (13x @ 1.020V)
GPU - 78C
HDD - No idea

Normal 3DMark05 benchmark: 3500
OC'd 3DMark05 benchmark: 4000 with my previous M3438G, haven't tested this one but I think it's higher

*TIP*
A good way of testing GPU temps is to use Unreal Tournament for example. When playing press alt+enter to run the game in a window, then you can see live and true temps at the same time =)

Ok, I'll hop in as well...
(I'll edit this post later on if I add something or anything important comes up).

Machine as mentioned in sig:

Normal Use:

HD: Both HDs at 48 Celsius (according to DTemp).
GPU: 56 celsius, 54 celsius ambient (according to Nvidia control panel).
CPU: ??

Gaming:

No Data yet. ;)

...Now, everyone, join the temp reporting frenzy here
[edit]
I took off the CPU temperature info, I concluded it was wrong, other temps I have mentioned here were the same when testing with Everest as well (couldn't see any temp info for the CPU there unfortunately).

Hello

I want to make a suggestion. I think it is good to post together with the temps which applications were used to monitor the temperatures.

playerdude

I like to use EVEREST to monitor the temps :) There are also many other good programs..

GPU temps are also monitored in the Nvidia control panel.. just tellin' for those who dont know

As mentioned elsewhere.....

"SiSoft Sandra 2005" is a superb computer monitor program. Tells you absolutely shít-loads of info, values, and status reports for all the inner working parts of your computer, including temperatures and more besides.

>> SiSoftware Sandra 2005 SR2a (http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/index.html?dir=dload&location=sware_dl_3264&langx=en&a=) <<

^ The Lite version is completely free.

If anyone could post figures for the "CPU arithmetic" and "CPU multimedia" benchmarks using SiSoft Sandra, too, that'd be awesome.

PS> if anyone could also take a look here (http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=101844), I'd be grateful for help regards a few remaining queries. http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=101844

The problem is, it depends how long the laptop has been on as well. For example, I turned my laptop on a few minutes ago, and the CPU is at 32C. The GPU is at 47C.

Hi to All!

you did it - I'm going to buy a 17" Fujitsu-Siemens!
Thanks for the great thread.

Has anyone yet been able to buy the M4438 in Germany?

I know the disadvantages of 1920x1200, but Dell is using this resolution in their XPS gaming notebooks as well, so it can't be that bad.
And I've seen the Sony Vaio with WUXGA display in action - simply amazing!
If the M4438 is nearly as good as the Sony, I'll take it.

SirHenry

sorry for that - posted to the wrong thead
i'll let you know my temperatures as soon as I get my "baby"

Hi to all again!

I'm going tomorrow to pick up my M3438G from the store, and i was wondering: what should i check for except dead pixels and problems with the keyboard?

Also, all you that have bought this, don't you worry about 64bit compatibility, as Longhorn is just about the corner?

Thanks!

Strange Species

Longhorn/Vista will have a 32-bit version :)

Look to make sure the laptop base is flat. Probably just a one-off thing, but you never know...

When idle:
CPU- 30
GPU- 54
HDD- 27

Heavy use:
CPU- 52
GPU- 69
HDD- 47

Gaming more then 30 min:
CPU- 57
GPU- 72
HDD- 53

The temperatures were taken in XP Pro using MobMeter and Speedfan (btw, the last one doesn't see my fans at all:)))
Haven't tried heavy gaming yet for 3 & more hours.. I'll add it later :)

I was just gaming for about 2 hours on Rome: Total War, and the GPU didn't get as hot as normal. When I closed the game, after a few minutes it was at 60C, which is lower than it is normally when idle...

I didn't check it right away, as I forgot, but still it's very odd. At the moment it's 61C and I haven't used it in gaming for at least half an hour. Puzzling.

Strange Species

Also, does MobMeter allow you to change any fan settings?

RuptuReD
08-19-2005, 10:34 AM
Yes, it would be good to have a program that would actually let you access the fans, I sure haven't found such a prog yet...

Tried Speedfan (http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php)? There is also FanGUI (http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html) but it's only for Dell laptops...

Strange Species

SpeedFan does not allow you to change the fan speeds on the 3438, and I assume the 4438 as well. It can monitor a few temps though.

Ok, after heavy gaming for 4 hours on max settings:

CPU: 59
GPU: 76
both HDDs: 50

not as bad as i was afraid of :)

Kieran

They don't seem to bad at all.

What are your ambient temperatures like? Like is it a hot/cold day?

look at the previous page, i've posted idle&other temperatures :)

I meant the room or place you're in, is it cool/hot?

For example, on a very sunny summers day the ambient heat will affect your computer temps, and likewise in a cooler environment.

cheers

Hi, a little contribution to the list:

Idle and very light use (and more than one hour on):
CPU - 40º
GPU - 49º
GPU ambient - 50º
HD - 46º

Room temperature - 27'5º

I don't have any game installed so I can't test temps during heavy load.

Edit: I should have said, CPU is undervolted to 0'700v on idle.

The temp in my room is absolutely normal-neither hot, nor cold :)
Approx. ~21 C

This is partly a benchmark thread, yes? So why don't we put some benchmark-scores shall we. It'd be very interesting to compare results. I'll go first:

My system: M3438G (PM750, 2x80Gt Raid, 2x1GB Kingston 533MHz RAM, WXGA+, nVIDIA GO 6800 256MB DDR1)

3DMARK05: 3687
PCMARK05: 3016
Aquamark3: 54,073

So please, let's see some bechmark results, okey?!

Ok, just so that this thread doesn't completely die, I decided to let you know that I got score of 3588 in 3DMARK05 on the first run, no overclocking, 80.40 ForceWare from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/

I'll run some other tests as well and let you know how they went (and then edit my first post on this thread to include them).

BTW, I still haven't got around reinstalling windows, I'll do it at some point... :uhoh:

My benchmark results:

M3438 @ 2.0Ghz 2x60Gb HD with Raid0, 7.8.1 Graphics drivers

3dMark2005: 3700-3718
Sandra Soft Harddisk test: 55 Mb/s

Maximum Temp seen playing Halflife was 76c

I got 3728 in 3DMARK05, with my system fully loaded (firewall &antivirus running etc)

When I quit BF2 last night after about 2hrs, my GPU temp was about 64°C.

The graphics slowly worsened on BF2 as the card got hotter, it was gradual, but the framerate spiked and stuttered a bit (probably a combination of server lag as well as background processes, I'm going to investigate further).

As soon as I quit BF2, I could hear the 6800's fan powering down, and it all returned to normal soon afterwards.

Because you only have 1gb of ram you probably have the lag spikes and other unnatural behaviour... You should upgrade to 2gb to play BF2 with good speeds, as far as head from these forums.

BF2 Needs 2GB for good speeds, 64 for GPU is fine...

Most 3438:s do much more as they tolerate more oc.
