My computer is just about a goner, and I was planning on getting a Ferrari 4002 to replace it. I can't afford a 4005, but the 4002 is fine for me atm. I might end up wanting to upgrade the CPU in a year's time when I get the extra money (upgrading to maybe a 2.0GHz or a 2.2 when they come out), so basically I wondering if the CPU can be upgraded on the Ferrari series.

Noobish question I know, but some laptops, you can't upgrade the CPU...just some piece of mind. :)

Well, for one, the processor in the Ferrari is the ML line, not the MT. The MT is the low-wattage version that caps at 1.8ghz. The currently released MT processors are 1.6 (512kb/1mb L2), 1.8 (512kb/1mb L2), 2.0 (1mb L2), and 2.2 1mb L2). Right now, making the jump from the 2.0 to the 2.2 really isn't going to deliver much of a performance difference; if you're really thinking of upgrading, I'd definitely wait until some of the faster ones come out. 200mhz isn't worth hundreds of dollars, imo.

Either way, the laptop CAN be upgraded. They should all fit in the same socket.

Thank you, that's all I wanted to know. I was looking at a Ferrari 4002 which is 1.6GHz, the jump from 1.6 to 2.2 is however significant ;)
