Gateway Names John Goldsberry as Chief Financial Officer in their news release from today:
http://www.gateway.com/about/news_info/press_release.shtml
In his new role, Goldsberry will oversee all aspects of financial
management, control, reporting, planning and investor relations for Gateway.
He will be replacing Rod Sherwood who announced his retirement.
Replacing John Goldsberry in his current position will be replaced by
a former Dell, Quanta Executive Bruce K. Riggs in the position of Head Operations, Manufacturing and Customer Care.
We'll be interested to see what this does for Gateway. The position moves are reported as happening Aug 29th. Gateway recently expanded with making notebooks available at Best Buy and also their $25 million contract with the state of New York to supply around 21,000 computers to the government. This is over a 6 month period and is expected to save New York millions.
They are opening a US manufacturing facility in 2006 expected to employee at least 300 for various needs including assembly.
On notebookforums, we currently have a Gateway employee held hostage. His user name is Otto-GW: http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=95144
and he's one of many employees from various companies that have volunteered their time to answer questions and help the boards. Most don't last though after getting hammered with questions and private messages, so we'll see how long he can last ;).
