When I close the lid of my laptop, the screen will blink back to where I left it before I closed it, but then turn off for a few seconds before piecing back together very gradually. What is the deal with this? It is normal, or bad? It doesnt seem like a huge problem but I want my computer to run perfectly... sigh.

You didn't mention whether you have ATI or Nvidia GPU. This would be a normal function of the video driver and nothing to worry about.

I have ATI. Normal is good then I guess.
