i am very interested in getting away from winxp entirely.

i have stubled upon mandrake, and ubuntu. i like them both, but am having a real hard time installing either.

Mandrake 10.1: doesnt wanna seem to install to a usb HD. i have ran the livecd version, but cannot get the wifi to work for the life of me!!! wifi is intel 2200BG.

Ubuntu: again, the wifi. im downloading the install cd right now, and will give it a shot.

basically im pretty new to the linux thing. i want to learn, and have searched and read a few articles and such. i just need some pointers on these problems.

if i can install ubuntu and get the wifi to work, ill be able to research everything(problems after install) on web with the internet.!!!

help guys, id really appreciate it!

when you go to the gnome panel -> system -> Administration -> Networking
does your wifi card show up?

Yeah, I also had issues with the live cd. It wouldn't run my display in the native res, but strangely the install detected it perfectly.

lol, same on the live cd and my uniwill, though contrary to that the livecd ran perfectly on my thinkpad but the install crashed and burned
