I am trying to take some stuff off my old 5150 and put on my new notebook. I am using Nero, and DVD-r's. However, it appears that the drive wont recognize DVD-r's. its telling me it needs DVD+R. I thought these drives read both formats?! Any idea?

Have you upgraded the firmware of the drive? They usually ship with outdated firmware....

Its extremely unlikely the doesnt recognize -R's That is unless your trying to BURN a dvd then its more than likely you will have to go aquire some +R discs since it was only recently dell decided to ship notebooks that support both formats for writing.

Yep, I was trying to move some stuff over from my 5150 to my new 6000. So that is probably the case. I got moved over what i needed though by setting up a shared folder on my network and just moved the stuff over that way.
