dell inspiron 8600 color display

i have had my dell laptop about 3 years. does anyone know how to adjust the colors. when the monitor is suppossed to be displaying yellow or gold it displays chartruse green. i either dont know how or i dont see anywhere to adjust this. i also searched the dell site.

You can adjust color on your display depending on the model videocard you have. Can you tell us which videocard you have? Right click your desktop and highlight properties then hit the last tab. Click ont he advanced button and then the adapter tab to tell us exactly which videocard you have.

Does it do this in all applications, including the startup screens? Has it always done this or is it some new development?

it is a nvidia ge force fx go5200. i see no way to adjust it even under color management.

would a new card fix the problem?

Its likely a defective Videocard/LCD firstmost see if the problem occurs with something attached to it liek an external CRT/LCD monitor or a TV if yes then yoru videocard is to blame if not then likely the LCD or software your using. Seeing as how the machne is over 3 years old I dont suppose you have warranty and if you do not LCD replacement is not advised unless you can aquire one for rather cheap. Otherwise your best on getting a new model altogether.
