Hello Folks,

First time user here, and have a bit of a problem on my hands with my Dell Inspiron 8200.

The problem is that when after flashing my Video Bios with the updated version for the Dell Support site, my screen is no longer working!

What happened exactly was that i inserted the disk image into a CD-ROM ISO image because i did not have a floppy drive to do the job, and this CD image is made specifically for this problem - for ppl that dont have a floppy drive who need to flash their bios.

the boot CD created a ram drive R:... and that is where the flash files layed. i ran "atiflash -p 0 flashrom.rom -f " the "-f " was to force the flash because the program told me earlier that the ID numbers of the devices did not match from the flashrom.rom file and the device (ati radeon 9000 M) video card in my notebook. So, after flashing, i rebooted and nothing. Screen did not start. Windows and everything else boots fine, but no screen.

So i have thought of a solution without taking it to the store yet. I now have a external USB drive, and have created the video flashing image on a diskette on another computer. Problem is, my laptop is not set to boot from floppy in BIOS. So, what i need is a PDF layout, or Pictures of the BIOS that my laptop (dell inspiron 8200) uses - so that i can blindly go through bios and set floppy to boot. Then, Mayyyybe i have a chance at reflashing the video bios and getting it to work again. I cannot find any pictures of docs regarding my BIOS on google, would anyone know where i can get it or have it themselves? Any other suggestions maybe to fix this problem?

Would love to know your thoughts guys,
Thanks very very much in advance, as i would *appreciate* any help now

ATI M9 bootCD Video BIOSflash (http://images.lunarpages.com/uxga/dos/bios/M9%20flash.zip)

If you also have no video booting with an external monitor(VGA) or TV(S-Video) from your I8200, your M9 is fried and you'll need a replacement.

BTW: To make your notebook just work again you could slap the M7 into it: http://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=2656&prevaction=category&previd=2&prevstart=30

Hello,

thanks for the insight..

What is this bios flash CD that you posted? ATI M9 bootCD Video BIOSflash

What will it do? Do you really think that my vid. card is fried?... im finding that a tad difficult to believe since it was working perfectly before the flash... could you really fry a card with bad flash? hmm

Do you have the same notebook?... happen to know where i could get a copy of my BIOS ? meaning, a snap shot of each screen?...
Would you also know how to go about potentially doing this all blindly?... just flashing again.
Thanks a lot.
