I just had a client drop off an Inspiron 3800 with a forgotten BIOS password, first instinct was to pull the BIOS battery and let it sit for a while, however upon further research I find conflicting answers on if this is a solution. There's a site that sells a new security chip for $50ish but for every one of those I find I see at least two more people mention a fix using a jumper or by simply pulling the BIOS battery.

which of the three options are correct? are any of those three correct?

thx in advance

The easiest way is to call Dell CS because they have access to a master password they can easily clear the password for you.

BIOS manufacturers often provide a backdoor master password. I remember using it when I forgot a password for my older desktop. It was a phoenix bios. Various sites list master passwords. Try "DELL" if you have a dell BIOS.
