LI - NU - KS
LI as in "little"
NU as in "nut"
and KS as in X (without the e-KS)

Linux, pronounced LIE-nux.
Think Linus Torvalds and itll make a little more sense, though Linux is a common pronunciation, at least in the US, it isnt the technically correct one, or wasnt at one time. Not a clue on the audio file first I had heard of it. But I have had many pureist jump on me for pronouncing it lehnux.

i take it you didn't see my "L33t Ubuntu Breezy Thread" ... about 1/3 of the page down.
To summarize it for you:
- install ubuntu server
- put xfce 4.2.2 on top (instead of gnome)
- rebuilt the kernel (took out useless drivers and features)
- installed latest fglrx and madwifi
result: highly customized Xubuntu Breezy

Linus is Finnish, "i" in Finnish is generally an "ih" sound. Linux is taken from his name, so therefore Lih-nihx is more proper.
If you say Leyenuhs, people are going to know what you're talking about, but they're gonna know you're new to it.
