Anybody done this yet? If so, how much of it is 100% working? Wifi, video, audio, etc.
Thinking pretty hard about buying one of these. Not sure if I will go 32 or 64 bit at this point.
Unfortunately, it will also have WinXP Pro for some light duty gaming as well. If only HL-2 would run natively in linux, I'd be set.

Well, so far, it has not been an easy road to installing gentoo.
The latest gentoo cd sees the hardware correctly, but does not have the ethernet driver included. I've found out that the kernel maintainers have not approved this driver for inclusion into the kernel as of yet.
I am currently recompiling the gentoo install cd to include the broken agere systems network driver. Found lots of typo's in the module's source code header files. I don't know who the coder was at agere, but they definitely did Not test this out. The only driver I've actually found for it was on http://altlinux.org/index.php?module=sisyphus&package=kernel-source-et131x
It does not compile correctly as is. I have the patched/repaired version on my website here (http://dadams1969.googlepages.com/) if anybody else is wanting to mess with it. I'm not sure when I'll actually get this running, as catalyst (for making gentoo cd's) is not cooperating nicely. I don't know how many people are interested in this, but at least I can try and make this work for somebody besides myself. I just wish the support for linux was a little better from MSI or even Agere Systems.

Just a quick thanks. I don't run the same hardware as you but i do appreciate the effort you are putting forth to help other people with their stuff.

Got the network card working on this one finally. See here (http://dadams1969.googlepages.com/et131xkernelmodule) for more info if you are interested. Currently only have console display, need to figure out pci-e ati-x700 vid card next.

If anyone is interested, I have made a livecd based on the linux-live scripts for installing Gentoo. The network card module is inserted into the kernel and is working.
The iso (in 4 parts) is located at http://dadams1969.googlepages.com/livecd
It's about as minimal as you can get at 36 mb and is only x86.
