So. I have ordered a Amilo 3438G. 2 gighz of CPU. Geforce 6800 GO. 240 gig Raided Sata disks, 2 gig of ram, 17" widescreen and so on. It would be great if someone that had simular equipment could give me a hint how good different games runs on this machine :) I see that you have several Sandra si soft and other benchmarks, but how about the performance in games? Games like bf 2, Quake 4. Does it run smoothly?

Thanks alot for your comments ! :)
Regards
Kris

Depends on your luck...

(my 4438 with identical specs runs fine until it lags/cogs/brrs once in 30 secs - 1 -2 mins.)

Ah if only it was that simple, the 'fix' you mention is for another issue related to video drivers, nothing to do with the 'lag' issue.
In answer to your original post, its unlikely you will be able to play the games mentioned without encountering the lag issue although who knows, you may be lucky.
I sold my M3438G at a substantial loss just to get rid of it, i then stuck a 40 quid graphics card in my old desktop and its runs better (smoother) than the M3438G ever did.
My advice, if you can cancel your order do it!!!!

So. your saying that, most likely i cant use my new laptop att all, because it will lagg.. sounds very wiered. Why would they release a laptop with manufacture fault like that?

Well all I am saying is if you do have the 'lag' issue then gaming and watching movies may bea problem as thats where it seems to cause most problems.
The laptops are still being sold because as far as I am aware, FSC has not officially admitted there is a problem but I suggest you read the following post...

Ask anyone on this forum with an M3438G if you should buy one and the answer will be no...

Hi i have a FSC M3438G with 1.73GHz CPU 1 GB ram and 80GB 5400RPM HD.

Some stats for you.

Doom 3 and it runs at about 63-55fps
Quake 4 runs at about 50-45 fps

Detail wasn't cranked up high TBH and res at 1024*768 but this was before I did some stuff.
1. updated the Bios
2. Flashed the GPU
3. Updated my Driver (now 81.94, but will up to 83.90).
Looks like I need to run some more benchmarks.

After this I have played HL2 at native resolution of 1440x900 cranked every thing up bar AA and AF and I am getting a steady 80fps.

I have not encountered the lagging issue, I play games on the machine. ET (Old game most nights) I have F.E.A.R and Far Cry as well and can say that I haven't had problems at all. Maybe I have been lucky, did have to send the lappy back but that was because the GPU and Screen mucked up. FSC got it sorted in a week.
I would say that you get the extended warranty if you haven't lappys are expensive to fix out of warranty.
