Overclocking 5672 Graphics

Anyone tried it? The only thing remotely negative I can think of regarding the 5670 series is the x1400.

ATI claims a 3dmark05 score of 2300 while 5670 owners seem to be getting around 1600. That's a pretty big difference.

I'm just wondering if Acer clocked the graphics card a little low for heat and battery reasons? Any 5670ers out there willing to give it a go?

Go to www.guru3d.com and DL mobile Mod and the Desktop Cat 6.2 drivers, then bench again and see what you get, should be a good boost.

try ATI tool for the overclocking, it has a nice app that determines what your highest safe overclocks, I usualy set things back to about 60% of what ATI tool comes up with and run those clocks 24/7, IE if it overclocks the core from 350 mhz to 450 mhz, I set the core at 410 mhz and leave it.

be careful overclocking guys, you may get a little boost in performance, but the cooling system in these machines may not be up to anything agressive, so you will only end up damaging the core or the ram that will be very close to the core.

these style of laptops use heatpipes, and advanced fan power management to make it quieter, so be aware that an overclocked machine may run both hotter and louder.

best thing to concentrate on is new driver releases, there is usually more performance to be had with driver optimisations.

The stock driver works very well with current games, so with little tweaks on drivers it should prove to be fine for future games too.

i have a 5672 and loaded the omega drivers. at th emoment i am getting 1713 @ 3dmark05. i also did installl ati tool but everytime i use it like finding max core, it crashes the system. i've heard that the ati tool does not work with the x1400. are there any alternative software which we can use for overclocking. thanks
