I prefer my 8204 to Hibernate when I close the lid, except when it is docked.

Is there anyway to define that when docked the lid closing will not hibernate the notebook?

I think u can do that in the settings of windows..Umm right click on my computer, click properties, and there should be a notebook power comsumption tab or something. I havnt used a notebook in a while so i may be a bit off lol

You're on the wrong site then, no?

Anyway, you can create hardware profiles by right clicking on my computer and selecting the hardware tab, then hardware profile. Each profile should have the ability to store different settings.

If the PC doesn't recognize what hardware profile it should run under (for instance, if the dock is a USB device, and doesn't register as a "true dock") then you may be prompted to select which profile to use when you boot the system. You will have to change the settings once under each profile in order for them to stick...

This should work for you.

Thanks!!
This is a great start, but this only allows you to change Device Manager items inside the profile....how would I define the lid closing and whether or not it places notebook in Hibrenate mode?

One possible solution (though not particularly elegant) is to use Profilelink (http://www.batchconverter.com/ProfileLink-download-13305.shtml) in combination with powercfg (http://www.jsifaq.com/SUBQ/tip8300/rh8369.htm). Profilelink allows you to start different programs as well as have different default printers depending on the hardware profile selected. Powercfg is a command line utility to set different power configuration settings, so you can set hibernation on and off.
