how do i install application in linux like aim
i am using ubuntu
welcome to the world of Debian's APT.
open up Synaptic package manager and browse the goods :)
"aim" is already installed in ubuntu. its called gaim
Applications > Internet > Gaim
internet browser: Applications > Internet> Firefox
email client: Applications > Office > Evolution
office program: Applications > Office > Open Office Writer
media player (audio) Applications > Media > XMMS

i also dl the netbeans bundle pack from java.sun.com and i am wondering how do i install that. i looked through synaptic and its not there

use their sources.list for this one.
dont forget to backup your current list by
: cp /etc/apt/sources.list /apt/etc/sources.list_old
or install the linux .sh installer and run it in console as
sudo sh package.sh
and follow the directions on the java site.
