see here (post #8): http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=137355

bottom line. i need a pcmcia card as a possible solution to my issue. now my question is, does linux support pcmcia lan cards out of the box (say the gentoo livecd), and if so, which card would you recommend (within reason..say $30...ebay is an option).

:'( i am not made of money!

a friend of mine just stopped by and gave me his ADM8511 USB-->Ethernet addapter for a little while as a temporary solution before i find something more permanent. After some googling i see it has mixed linux support. so i guess i am just gonna have to give it a run and see what happens.

in either case, i have a temporary solution on hand already.

but...i still am wondering how are pcmcia lan cards....

Lan, wlan or both? I've got a netgear wlan g pcmcia card that I dont use, since I have a 2200 b/g built in (came with my wireless g router) but thats prolly not what u want :/.
