I'm experiencing crashes (blue screen error) telling me that my hard drive had a physical dump or something like that.

It started happening before I did the bios flash update when I started adobe Premiere pro 1.5 and saved the new project to the d drive. It happened again when I started adobe audition 2.0 and stated I wanted to start a temp drive on the D drive.

But now the third time, it happened when i had only 12 programs running and I selected Rhapsody music player to start...boom stack dump. I have a feeling that the partition is messed up?

So my next question is, I'm getting a copy of Windows XP pro so I can do a complete reinstall. What are some tips to wipe the whole thing clean and start from scratch?

Thanks.

Hi ocean158. I'm also investigating this issue. I posted this (http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=137169) in support. Also, from lurking at the adobe forums (can't exactly remember the post), it looks like an ATI driver problem or a sound driver issue.

Wow, the 8204 is like a box of chocolates...yah never know what you're gonna get next!

Okay thanks, maybe if i get the catalyst 6.2 drivers will that make it work better?

I just fired up Premier Elements 2.0 for the first time on my 8204. It opened, I clicked create a New Project and then clicked save and got the same blue screen an Physical Memory dump. This sucks :D

just started adobe premiere pro 1.5 and it crashed while loading, it worked last time when I saved to the C Drive. When it rebooted it said driver error. I'm thinking that it's the ATI drivers. Do you guys have 6.2 installed?

I haven't upgraded my ati drivers yet.

okay installed the new omega drivers, adobe still crashes. This is huge as I make part of my living from editing video.

Mines not Live ore Die serious, but I do quite a few things involving video editing prior to Flash encoding and this is going to annoy the hell out of me with out a fix. Actually, the more I think about it, this is going to affect me pretty seriously. I wonder what is specifically the cause. I'm using the default ATI drivers that came with the system. It's got to be graphics card. Hmmm.....

Add me to the list... Just ran Premier Pro 2, and got a blue screen before I even had a chance to save. Funny thing is, I got the same result (I'm guessing, the same error, but a least a blue screen) running Premiere Pro on a 5672 I was evaluating.

Both systems have ATI graphics, albeit the X1400 vs. the X1600. I'm not sure if the sound hardware's the same, so that doesn't narrow it down. I didn't get a chance to write down the offending .sys file, but I'll do that next time I can afford a forced blue screen...

Step 1

Update your Acer 8204 with the latest BIOS update

You can download the BIOS update here (the US site does not have the BIOS update posted yet)

ftp.support.acer-euro.com/notebook/travelmate_8200/bios/

Step 2

download the latest Realtek High Definition Audio Driver (v.5.10.00.5221) - The HD audio package WDM_R131.exe.

You can download the drivers by visiting the below link...

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlhd-2.aspx?lineid=2004052&famid=2004052&series=2004061&Software=True&title=HD%20Audio%20CODECs

After you update the BIOS and the Realtek HD Audio Driver you will nolonger experience the dreaded blue screen using Adobe Premiere 1.5!

YES! Thanks a ton Joseph, I hope it stays stable. Big thanks, I had done the bios update a few days ago but hadn't upgraded to the realtek drivers even though I had upgraded to omega 6.2.
