So, I decided to take some pics thus far of the brightness of my screen. So far I have pics it next to two laptops. THe first is a Dell Latitude, matte screen, SXGA+.
The second, and the real test, is next to a Samsung Q30. The Q30 is an amazing ultraportable @ 2.1lbs, with a glossy screen, and their SuperBrite (or whatever Samsung's tech is called) screen. It is in a similar price range, at $2200
Took the pics with a word document background scaled up so it is just the white. Also, all screens are at 100% brightness.
Mine screen has had considerable custom tweaking, but it goes to show that the screen IS bright enough and CAN look beautiful. The Samsung is a little brighter, but it is a gloss screen. However, the colors on it appear more washed out than do the colors on my 8200, which are very vibrant. Just look at the Start button and taskbars at the bottom of the screen. I tried to angle the two computers both directly at me, but i think that actually just distorted the viewing angle. Anyways, it makes the top corners of all the screens a little darker.
