when I turn down the volume, the buzzing goes away. only buzzes so long as a key is being pressed.

is there a new sound driver or something perhaps that I can download, make this go away?

buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

super noticeable buzzy, not something slight. i dunno wtf. of course it scales with the volume too, so half volume is half buzz (when holding or pressing a key) :thumbdown

EDIT!!!!!!!! It turns out the buzzing is caused ONLY when I have the Line In volume set to max (in the Volume Control menu in windows, that little speaking in the task bar). Huh? As soon as i turned that down, it goes away. Anyone have any reference to this experience, or care to test it?

So change Line In volume to max, then adjust the standard volume (Fn + Up) to max. The buzzing should become obvious.

you need to mute the line in and microphone on your volume settings. That will solve this problem.

then you unmute the mic. If you are going to user the one built into the 8204, use a head phone for the audio so that you don't get interference. Or use the bluetooth voip if you are using skype. You won't hear the buzzing sound.

what does line in refer to?

you can record from a cd player or any audio source that has a line out. It's the input on the front of your Acer to the left of the three.

you can use the mic (at least in skype) even if it's muted in Windows

i think that the problem is only with the line in. i hadnt heard anything about muting the mic.

yah you're probably right, I just mute both of them but skype still works as well as msn. I still haven't figured out how to use the bluetooth voip card, I partnered the device and used VCM. You guys have any ideas?

the mic and line volume bars in the OUTPUT section of the mixer are used to set the FEEDBACK level and has nothing to do with the recording level which is set in the INPUT section of the mixer. So don't worry :)
