Epower just aint cutting for me. Set to low, the battery life is definately better (but only 1ghz - could it go lower?), but if i try to play a video or do something intesive, the CPU starts to choke. Its obvious the CPU has not clocked up.

I know there are some applications that do dynamic CPU scaling.

Notebook Hardware Control (did not scale, and crashed after bios update)
RMClock (just installed, crashed ewpower)

The only thing i like about epower is the ease of turning off devices, the CPU scaling is useless.

If anyone has played around with this stuff I would appreciate your feedback.

after disabling epower from starting up RMClock works (and works pretty well)

you can download on this page http://cpu.rightmark.org/download.shtml or directly http://cpu.rightmark.org/download/rmclock_205_bin.exe

I needed to set epower to max cpu and then disable the regesitry startup to enable the dynamic scaling. With epower set to low, RMClock would not increase the CPU clock.

btw - it looks like core 1 operate at 1000mhz and core 2 at 700mhz at idle, i tested with some x264 HDTV encoding and it ramps the cpu to 2ghz right away. There are some decent magaement profiles for A/C and battery as well.
