View Full Version : Logitech Setpoint & Synaptics Touchpad settings can't coexist?
This sucks. I have a logitech MX518 USB mouse, using Setpoint drivers (logitech's own drivers). I have it set to use Setpoint settings, not the OS settings.
Well, two problems are occurring. 1) when i change the touchpad sensitivity, the mouse sensitivity goes up. The other, is that if I hibernate/restart that the touchpad loses the sensitivity settings I had set.
I have Synaptics drivers 8.1.2 from the synaptic site. Is there a more recent update? Or any advice to fix this annoyance?

Did you try to remove Synaptics drivers and use logitech/windows drivers only?
If you do not need the touchpad central key you could try...

Hi,
I already got this problem before and the only solution i got is a kind tricky :
- Install the lastest Synaptics driver
So you want to access Logitech Panel ?
- go to to "C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\"
- rename "SynTPCpl.dll" to "SynTPCpl.dll.bak"
- go to "control panel" -> "Mouse"
And voila, your complete logitech panels with all settings should be here.
That's a problem between Synaptics and Logitech Driver. It lasts since several monthes. It has been asks to Logitech and Synaptics to solve this issue but nobody wants to do the job. Logitech says it's a Synaptic driver issue and Synaptics said it's a Logitech's fault... :saywhat: .
wait, so, do I abandon my logitech setpoint driver? Will my symantec settings remain (i assume) and be able to use my setpoint independently?
or is the 'mouse' now setpoint? lol im confused

Any other brand of mice work with the touchpad? I have a bluetooth mouse (v270) and it keeps moving on its own.

I resolved all my issues by returning the mouse and getting the LX7 logitech mouse. It works without any problems. I didn't even install the logitech software.
precisely tyancey, i WANT to install the logitech software. any mouse will work fine with windows, it has the necessary drivers.

I don't think you will get much of a solution as long as you use logitech's software. The logitech tech told me their setpoint drivers and synaptics' drivers do not coexist well. Thats it in a nutshell. Now it's up to you to use one or the other or get a mouse without the additional functionality. I don't blame you. I wanted to keep my bluetooth mouse but hated to constantly reset the touchpad.

I have an MX510, and I have no problems or conflicts with the Touchpad.
