Thanks again to everyone on this forum. I have survived the first week of ups and downs with the acer 8204.

I finally got it to work pretty insane. Here are some new issues that I found out how to solve:

1) Adobe products (Premiere pro, After Effects, Audition) including Rhapsody music player(maybe all big audio players) goes to blue screen saying that there is a major error....and then crashes.

Diagnosis: From one of the posters, it isn't a memory issue, but rather driver induced. Do the latest bios update, install newest realtek HD audio drivers, get 6.2 omega catalyst drivers.

You can download the Audio drivers by visiting the below link...

2) got the screen to be pretty bright, but got the grey lines, in a few weeks I'm going to see if Acer can give me the other screen model. Samsung LTN154P1-L02 seems to be the crappier model.

The rest of the issues are being discussed or fixed:

-NIC issue, graphics card buzzing.

Now my 8204 is incredible, web cam works great with skype and msn messenger (some issues with Trillian pro) and despite the grey lines on the screen that's my only gripe now.

the first realtek link doesnt work...and i need that driver.

secondly, do you feel the Omega driver is better than the hacked 6.2 catalyst driver?

Has there been any progress regarding the graphics card buzzing?
As far as I understand updating drivers or bios doesn't help?

The new intel eeprom fixes the nic issue, and I dont have the buzzing problem, so if Acer switch my LCD for the one without the grey lines I should have a pretty decent laptop :-)

Yo Tay, here is the thread I grabbed it from:

scroll to the bottom to Joseph's post.

I havent' tried the hacked version, all i know is that it made my premiere pro and other adobe products to work without the dreaded blue screen.

There is a dedicated thread (http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=133535) in regards to the static noise.

Long story short, Acer has had my laptop for 5 days, and an engineer is looking into the buzzing noise. Other than that, I don't know, that is all the support guy told me.
