Well guys just poking my head in to say Hi. In the last few months the wife and I have decided to relocate across country. Selling the house and quitting our jobs. I've been really busy with fixing up the house and getting all the details worked out. I still browse the forums but not much time to reply to posts. I will probably be without a connection for several months. Any way just checking in.
Bill :wow:

I'm getting a little light headed and nauseous just thinking about it. I couldn't be without the internet that long. Good luck on the move. Hope everything goes well for you, and you get back faster than you expect.

Good Luck! I kinda wish I had the balls to do that. I'm getting sick of the bayarea. I saw some ads on anandtech "hot deals" for homes in Tenesse ( I know out in the middle of nowhere!) but a 4/2 for $40K . Hmm sell my 4/2 here for $1.2M and retire! I lived in Hawaii for a while but for the most part born and raised in Cali but traffic, smog, too many people, high cost of living, crime etc.etc.etc. getting to me.

My ultimate goal is to build my company so that all the business is through the web. Then I move out to a ranch in colorado or something. I actually saw a place in Wyoming a couple years ago that was so tempting. Sadly, I'm still stuck in NJ, the one place I least like to be in. :(
Good luck!

And strangely that is where my wife and I are considering moving in a couple years;)
Course neither of us do IT for a living anymore, she teaches math and I work in theater, so not exactly the same situation;)

I'm actually looking to get out of IT my self. 14 years is long enough for me I think.

Where are you considering, Colorodo or Wyoming? Personally, I loved new mexico when I was there. No mosquitos. I got eaten alive a few years ago in yellowstone.

New Jersey actually;)
Colorado is a nice looking state though, always liked it when I went out, but to cold for me;)

all this talk of travel and moving makes me dizzy. lol, i am still pretty jet lagged from yesterday returning home (chicago) from paris (france). i am stuck in chicago for a little while, have been for the last 8 years (2 in city, 6 in burbs). in just over a year i'll be going away to college, so i have the opporunity to get out somewhere nicer, nicer weather perhaps would be nice. so where ever i go will be my residence for the next 4 years (2007-2011), at 2011 i'll probably be back to chicago for a few years, and then move somwhere more south (not FL or GA or AL or OK) but far enough south.

Here's an update. We all survived the trip. Turns out the place I'm renting is less than a 1/4 mile from the CO that has a dslam. I got DSL hooked up and back online for a while. Just need to sell my old house and find a job out here. Any who I'll be around some more now.

Lol. I like qwest, in my old apartment I qualified for their 7mb/ 1.5 Mb down
Package. It was SWEETNESS!!!!
The pings were around 32ms higher than other providers due to the interleave that qwest adds, but it makes for such a stable connection, you dont get spiking pings. Plus i would ping 60-90 for c.s servers, so not too bad.
Right now i share mediacom with my neighbor, ill trade you my mediacom for your comcast. lol.

Personally I am enjoying Qwest out here for my gig at the moment, it isnt bad, but not exactly great either I suppose.
But Comcast I gotta say I left and wont go back to them because they screwed me over in billing repeatedly.
