Howdy folks... anyone have a quick solution for this one? I'm trying to use the included video capture software that came with my Sager8886 in WinXP to pull some stuff from my vcr. Easy enough eh? I'm using the TV Studio software to record, and the input is my coax connection. The resulting mpeg's (.mpg) will only open in the InterVideo WinDVD 4 application. It will not open in Windows Media Player (error d/l codec) Windows Movie Player (unknown error) or Quicktime (doens't open at all.) I tried pulling video from the coax with Windows Media Player and the video setup wizard bombs the application and it WILL NOT WORK. Wow. Wonders of technology. I'm trying to get the video files to work in anything, let alone my original purpose for creating the video files which was for use on a mac. Any love here?

Try getting this pack of codecs:

Maybe they have the one you need.
Cheers.

bah to nimo. I have tried to use their codec pack and it always crashes. Either and error in xvid.ax or iviaudio.ax but it always seems to crash. But hey, if it works for you then great.

I actually haven't tried them myself. I just read about it on CNET.
Cheers.

I posted several threads on this topic, since i had plenty of issues
Check this:

Or:

For recording i use the powervcr2 from cyberlink, i recommend widely that software, since it has really a lot of options, and works great with the 8886, no de-sync, realtime mpeg-2 and more!Try it, or use my first link
