Hi there.

Just wondering if I wipe the windows @home version and replace it with my bought xp, what sort of things will I need to do. I don't care too much about any of the packaged software just want to ensure all the components will work.

And I will be using the omega drivers as per someone's sig.

Any other tips or pointers would be good i will prob make a 15 gig windows partition and a 85 program one.

let me know your thoughts :)

U dont have to worry about anythin, because all the necessary drivers are included on the acer cd. So after u format and install xp, then pop in the driver cd and install all the drivers.

Hi there only problem is for some reason there is no acer cd....

i guess i have to download it from the acer disk ?

Yeah no disk iincluded so unless i figure out a way to get a disk created or booted up, I am kinda screwed lol... cuz if i put the win xp cd and reformat I will lose everything.....and then certain things might not work..

Hoping someone can help me with this i am scared to wipe the computer because if I do and regular winxp wont let me get on the net, I won't have access to any of the drivers or anything at all with a wiped computer..

I also am scanning the acer website and trying to figure out the bare minium t waht i need i could probably burn a cd and use that to put the drivers on if i knew what was required...

When you first get your 8204, you're given the option to make a recovery disc, and you can also make an applications & driver disc, all coming from your stock hard drive. Some drivers may need updating, but the ones current when your 8204 was made will be available without any downloading required, via this disc.

(Make sure you burn these before your reformat and reinstall Windows XP from a retail disc!)

It seems odd that Acer doesn't just simply include this disc (it's all about the Benjamins!), but it's a quick and easy task.
