How can I remap the Euro and Dollar keys above the left and right arrow keys to also be left and right arrow keys?
I would never in my wildest imagination plan to use those keys as intended and they mess me up because I keep trying to use them as arrow keys.
If they were the same, then I would save some serious daily frustration.
However, I don't want to change things on the external keyboard, i.e. I don't want when I press shift-4 for dollar sign to be an arrow key on either the laptop or external keyboard....

Man, this shouldn't be so hard. I found some 3rd party apps out there, but they are really for defining macros. I just want to remap a couple of keys...

Take a look at this post (http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?p=1316853&highlight=MMKEYBD.CFG#post1316853). Involves messing around with the launch manager configuration files.

I found this free program to do the job nicely:

Thanks for the links. Tried the one were you edit the Launch Manager file and that didn't do a darn thing. Even rebooted to see if it would help and nothing.
Will try the other links given. But wanted to let you know that Launch Manager thing doesn't work as advertized so there's no surprise there.
I will report back on the other options mentioned.
Thanks again.

Got it!
Nothing is ever easy....
Turns out the editing of the Launch Manager file does work, but what is not obvious is that it only works if you delete the instances in BOTH places in that config file. When you first look at the file, you quickly see the keys you want to delete, but what you don't see is that there are 2 sections where those lines need to be deleted.
If you don't delete these lines in both places, Launch Manager is still in control and then the key remapping software that vale suggested doesn't work!
If you are not running Launch Manager, then you will not have these problems...
But now I have the Euro and Dollar signs remapped to left and right arrows respectively and it doesn't matter if I fat finger the keyboard anymore...
Thanks everyone!
