Hi All,
So I got my $750 i9300 the other day and instead of selling it, I gave it to my wife. I also decided that I was going to finish my mod on my existing i9300 to make it a full XPS G2. I had the carbon fiber cover on it, and figured she wouldn't like that. So... I decided to custom paint it to match her pink Motorola V3 RAZR.
Anyway... Here is a screen shot. I lightly sanded it, put two coats of the pink on it, followed by a little wet sanding and one more coat of pink. After that two coats of clear.

Nice job man!
I have also been really thinking about painting my 9300 lately. Those quick snap covers are the perfect thing to practice on (I have the carbon fiber one as well).
Did you use the Krylon brand plastic spraypaint?

It was just generic brand name indoor/outdoor paint from Lowes. The can said it can be used on plastic, wood, metal, etc.
I just took my time. First coat I put on at 3pm, 2nd at 5pm, 3rd at about 7pm. The next morning I wet sanded lightly again, cleaned all the dust real good then put on the clear coat. About 2 hours later, put on the 2nd clear coat.
I did remove the little Dell emblem from the center, and taped over the circle. When I was all done, just a little model cement to re-attach it.

(^_^) Great paint job Pugsly0014, really nice with the existing color of the machine. Now you got me thinking about doing the same to my, 'cough, cough' I mean, my GF's machine.

You know I should do the same thing for my mother, I should get her a M1710 for Mother's Day and paint it Pink. :dance2:

I have the same idea for my lappy. I bought the Krylon Fusion "patriot blue" from Walmart (Home Depot and Lowe's doesn't carry Krylon). Just trying to get my project done before I paint it.

picked up the sandpaper this weekend.. saw some paint at WalMart in the automotive section that the wife really liked so I will be using that.. Starting the sanding this week and hopefully next weekend it will get painted.
I picked up 320 grit for scuffing prior to painting, then 2000grit for in between coats..
This paint is a 4 step process. Plastic Primer, Base, Color, Clear. what a pain!
The wife is lucky she is CUTE!! LOL

ROFL that's too funny that the wives are sooooo persuasive when it comes to lappies. My wife's has the back cover, monitor bezel, and palm rest all done in a baby pink on her i9300. Will post some pictures as soon as i get time.
