Advice please for Acer Laptop around £700

Advice for the best Acer under £700

Just sold my HP Pavillion laptop on e-bay as it was a 4 years old PIII 750 with just 128 of ram so I'm in the market for a new laptop. I've seen the acers and they seem to offer best value for money, I'm looking to spend around £700 and want to get the best that 700 notes will buy me ! It has to if possible have a dedicated graphics card to play games, not at the highest resolution possible as this would cost in excess of 1K, but decent enough to play the latest games.

If anyone could recomend the best possible for £700, plus where to buy in the UK it would be much appreciated, I've spent hours searching through the net and would welcome any help...

i have an aspire 5512wlmi which was just over 700 from dabs. I love it and it has a X700 128mb and plays BF2 fine. check it out!

Cheers 4 the replys, Frag75 sounds like just what I'm after, but I think it's been discontinued ! Check all over but all out of stock :( I'm gona see if anyone is doing any good deals this weekend over the bank holiday ! I'll keep you posted...

I've narrowed it down to a acer 3023wlmi for 635 incl. vat or a 9502wsmi for 849 incl. vat. Does any one have either of these machines and can make any positive/negative coments ?

I got myself an Acer 1652zwlmi from www.acernotebooks.co.uk for £700 a week ago.

Pentium M 1.7ghz, ATI X1300, 1 gig of memory, 100gb hdd. Graphics card isn't the best, but its dedicated. So far I've played HL2 at 1280x800, Doom 3/Quake 4 at 800x600. 3dmark05 I got 1200 points.

It may not be what you are looking for, but something to think about I guess.

cheers sionyboy for the reply, Are you happy with the Pentium M 1.7ghz Centrino chip ? I would love to get a AMD laptop but the 2 I've narrowed it down to (Acer 3023wlmi for 635 incl. vat or a 9502wsmi for 849 incl. vat) both have the same chip as the laptop you just purchased. They also have a ATI Mobility Radeon X700 128MB dedicated graphics, would the card you have be better or worse than this graphics card ? as you didn't seem to impressed with your. Also does anyone know what the AMD chip equivelent would be to the Intel Pentium-M 740 Processor 1.73GHz ? Also seems the laptops now come with a 3G Vodafone card, are they any good ?

X700 is a much better graphics card than the X1300.

Pentium M is a good mobile chip. Al the desktops I've built have been AMD based systems, but with laptops I think that Intel hold the upper hand with Dothan core.

I haven't applied for the vodafone card, the terms and conditions didn't look too clear, apparently even with payg you still have to have a 12 month contract which i didn't like the sound of.
