View Full Version : dell & HP or Acer notebook??
I'm looking at getting a laptop but im torn between a few.
1) Acer Ferrari - don't think u can change any options from the factory
2) HP zx5000 P4 3.06 w/ HT, 512 ram , 60gb hard drive etc...
3) Dell 5150 - same set up as the HP
What is your guys opinion?? i know that the acer comes with an AMD processor, so is that better or worse or faster or what.
Thanks guys for the help
p.s. what have u heard about dependability

I, too, am debating among the different brand names. Acer I hear is very good quality. Same with Toshiba. HP has reliability issues. Dell..there are some issues if you get a lemon (according to threads on the dell site) but I like dell's price and components...so I really don't know. If I get a Dell, is the quality there? Someone? Please answer! Thanks! :dude:

I think that the Acer is the best looking one. As far as Dell, I dont like it because I dont think the quality, material, and feeling is that good. If money is a problem, Dell is the way to go because they always have promotion. Hope that helps.

The Ferrari's gonna be slower than those other two with the AMD 2500+ but it also looks hella better, although I could be biased because I own one haha... Plus HP sucks ass, my friend has one and i hate it lolz.
Not sure about Dells, I mean I love their desktops but i hear all sorts of **** about their notebooks.
Check out my Ferrari 3000 review if you haven't already.

I would say - do *not* get the Dell 5150, ever.
Dell already has a reputation for building less-than-great quality notebooks. Their business-class notebooks are still decent - the D800 is a great option over the i8600 - but their Inspiron 5xxx's are truly fearsome. They have *more* problems than the 8x00 series, and you can read all about that in the Dell forums here.
Be sure to check up on Dell's own forums before you make any purchase from them. Be sure to know what you're getting into and what risks you're running.

After reading posts from the Dell forum, i'm a little hesitant to buy a dell laptop...a desktop, for sure, but laptop...not sure. Very good deals and configs with Dell, but I've narrowed my pick down to toshiba (great wireless?), HP (like Dell with great config), and Dell is still sorta on my list :)

I went to a bestbuy store on the weekend, and saw the HP ZD7000...17" screen..wow..it's very nice..and the blue lighted buttons are nice too. It's $2,200 and very heavy, but it makes for a very good desktop replacement.
