Problem with Media Direct Button

I've got an e1505/6400, and my media direct button doesn't seem to be functioning properly. I was under the assumption that the button could be used to play music, movies, view pictures, etc. when the computer is off without having to boot windows, but with mine when I hit the button, the computer goes through the entire boot up process.

Any ideas?
