Hey, I know I've askedd this before, but where, and how much should I pay for either a T2400 or T2500 upgrade? (Or something else you would recommend that would allow me to play newer games such as Prey.)

Thanks a lot

wait for merom, should be out this fall, use lower power consumption, should have high speeds, 2.0+ might be out the same time as prey, and kinda like v2.0 of dual core.

What about something thats already out? Or Is the 5672 at 2gb, T2300, ATi x1600, good enough as is to play Prey? (Rec. Process. is 2.5ghz)

Thanks

yea you can use current cpu's out, just plug 'em in and there you go, real simple... these should all work with 5672 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?N=2010340343+1050719930&Submit=ENE&SubCategory=343
honestly i doubt the game is gonna actually check your processor speed, but at the same time, i don't know how core duo works as far as shifting processes from core 1 to core 2, did you try running the demo version? it's out now on Download.com.

I was thinking of dropping in a faster proc too. The prices have dropped tremendously since I bought mine in March.

Although a faster processor always helps, but it is the sum of all parts that will make your game play or enjoyable. Upgrade the processor to T2500 or better. Have 2GB of 667 RAM and the X1600 Video card. Even this won't compete with the top of the line gaming systems, but it should satisfy your thirst, at least on a laptop.

Do a search for SUCKA. He upgraded his laptop and provided pictures. He even upgraded to a Merom chip and said there was a 20% increase in speed.

Thanks for the link :) Im thinking T2600. It should be a farily substantial increase from the T2300. Only thing I really play on it is WoW and it runs relatively smooth as it is. Just need that extra bit of go for raids.

The required Processor might be 2.5ghz in desktop Pentium 4 terms most likely but your T2300 is roughly equivalent to a P4 @ 3.2ghz.

So its fine.

that is if prey as core duo support, if it does some sort of min. req. check prior to use, it might just pull up cpu 1, and i am curious how this works, does xp, divide the workload among the 2 cores, or do the cores divide the work themselves??? not sure

http://www.notebookforums.com/post2268824.html i just got the full version of prey the other day, here are some digi shots i took real quick, gameplay isn outstanding, it uses the same engine as quake4/doom3 put it on all max settings, still no lag, i ran the resolution at 1024 x 768 though, but everything else was on high, then i went in the advanced tabs and put the lightings and stuff all on high....perfect, not a skip, or anything, so it's confirmed...
