i'm looking for a way to adding internal bluetooth to my Travel Mate 2423. so far i've looked around and and found that https://www.mk-electronic.de/ will sell replacement acer parts. i just can't find the right one for my laptop. the other option i've seen is to replace the wireless lan mini-pci card with one that supports wifi and bluetooth, like the the mini-pci Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 b/g or some of the Atheros products. right now i'd prefer the replacement bluetooth board, i just don't know where i can find one. i expect this is the only way to have the front panel switch work as expected. does anyone have any information about this board, or where to find it. i'm going to keep looking to see if i can find any documents that tell me how to take this laptop apart, maybe they'll have something useful.
thanks in advance

I too am looking for a way to add internal Bluetooth. I was told by Acer support that this model (TM2423WXCi) doesn't have the correct motherboard to add Bluetooth. Although I believe as you do that it's a matter of adding the correct board to the WIFI area. Or perhaps changing out the WIFI board with a combo board that has both WIFI and Bluetooth. I was also told that the Bluetooth switch on the left front edge of the chassis is not hooked up to anything.
If you find a way please let me know; and I will do likewise.

I don't know if your looking for a more simple idea, but this might work better for you.
It's a USB Bluetooth adapter that acts the same....
Here's the ones that newegg carries,

Now, have fun when your Toothin'! ;)

Hey D620 it looks like i just missed you, time to share some info with you and lawilson88. I found the place to get the parts here I figured I should let you all know which parts to get. (I’ve been hiding over at forum.notebookreview.com) :-)
Through some research I’ve found that the Aspire 3620 and the TravelMate 2420 are basically the same laptop. (same motherboard and such) So by going to this thread I’ve visited https://www.mk-electronic.de/. (yea I know it’s in German, but if you look on the left there is an English link) now I found that the Bluetooth module’s Acer part number is 54.TB2V1.001. Now this site says that it has been replaced by Acer part number 54.T86V1.001. Now I doubt if my TravelMate has the Bluetooth cable, so I’ll have to get that too. It’s Acer part number is 50.TB2V1.002. It’s also available from https://www.mk-electronic.de/. Now you have to register on the site and that takes about a week to get the confirmation e-mail.
So in total the prices are as follows: (1 Euro = 1.2743 U.S. dollars)
Board € 40,68 $51.84
Cable € 11,60 $14.79
Total €52,28 $66.63
Now I don’t know about shipping to the US or VAT, and I still need to find the service manual that shows where to connect it. Anyone have that? I’m probably going to wait on ordering it until I know where it goes. Anyone else a little bolder? (GRIN)
