Hi guys.

Since yesterday, firefox in Xubuntu Dapper will not load any pages only those related to Mozilla. I cant get to notebookforums, dslreports.com, nothing at all.

However, i can ping any page i want succesfully.

And I can apt-get programs and update succesfully too.

I dont think this is a network prblem, as firefox works just fine in windows, on another machine on my network. And it works fine on my arch partition.

I have no clue what to do.

I have tried static ip's. Dhcp to no avail. i checked firefox connection settings, and made sure it was set to direct connection. And still no luck.

Is there a program out there that manages wireless conections? SUch that i can "REPAIR CONNECTION" like in windows?

all that "repair connection" essentialy does is drop your current connection and re-dhcp connects back to the given network....

you can try to download the latest firefox from mozilla.org (the .tgz file) and run it from that directory and see if that works ok on your xubuntu, if it doesn't get on the ubuntu IRC channel and see if they can help. Or....get automatix and use it to install swiftfox and see if that works.

Thanks for the help.

I manually dropped and reconnected, but it didnt work. Instead, the guys at ubuntu irc, told me to typpe this as a url in firefox:
about:config

then
new>Integer
add-->network.dnsCacheEntries
click ok
set value to 20 (default)
click ok

And it works like a charm. I dont know why or how. but it does.
