I just bought an acer 5672 with x1400 ati radeon with 2 gig ram. I can't find any setting as to where i can increase the vram to 512mb(by sharing from my normal system ram). Could anyone please tell me where to check the speed of the ram(as in if it is 533mhz or 667mhz). I am still using the ati drivers.
I wanted to try playing half life2. Does it work on this pc?
Thanks

I tried looking in the bios. There is no option about changing the shared memory. But it does mention that vram is 128mb and system ram is 2048mb.

I thought hyper memory only gets activated when the GPU needs additional RAM, such as when its under heavy duty usages?

The issue of hyper memory has been addressed many times on this forum; I've read it b4 but am too lazy to look for it lol.
Anyways, a quick google search turned up a review of the Radeon X1300; the review also explained the concept of hyper memory and compared it to nVidia's Turbo Cache. The link is below. Look for this part: "If you will recall with the introduction of the X300 and its Hyper Memory abilities, it has the capabilities to address system memory for video use. ATI's Hyper Memory is similar to NVIDIA's Turbo Cache and XGI's eXtreme Cache."

Don't feel bad I can't find a way to control/increase/decrease Hypermemory.
I don't think there is a way. Certainly nothing in the very spartan BIOS.
Nothing in ATi stock software or Omega custom which is what I use.

You can check the spec sheet for your memory clock speed. Also
the modules have a paper sticker on them with the clock speed listed.
Mine came with 2 GB 533MHz I bought it in April. I have since updated
to 2 GB 667MHz Corsair Value Select ram. This matches the front side
bus that the Core Duo runs at. I think my machine was made before
667MHz stuff was readily available. Not a gamer but others here have said
Half Life 2 plays. I installed the Omega drivers love em. Follow directions
on the web site if you decide to use.
