Given up trying to find a copy of the original restore disk and went down the route of installing XP Pro. But now when the installation get to the point where it checks the HD prior to installing it freezes and gives a blue screen error!

Think it's about time the 3003 went in the skip! :censored:

You have an old bootable windows 98 cd? Id toss that in, run fdisk, then format the drive with fat32. After that, give the install another try. Its worth a shot. Can always convert back to ntfs later if you want.

The other thing thats worrying (and for me thinking it's skip time!) is the lappy has been running very hot whilst I've been getting this blue screen error, it's never been the coolest of machines to use but the power adaptor plug that fit's into the back gets too hot to handle - now that cant be right. I can see me having to pay out to get it looked at.
