Hello,
I'm trying to educate myself and have been reading a lot of information. I just bought a new Acer 5672 Laptop and it will arrive in 3 days.
Question: what are the things I need to do to start?
Thanks in advance.

Just hit the on button :)
What exactly do you mean? There are plenty of "how to" threads/posts in regards to reinstalling windows and/or converting to NTFS. Otherwise there shouldn't really be anything you need to "do".

I agree with Sucka. The machine as comes from factory will fit
the bill for most users. But I am a tinkerer and tweaker by nature.
Search these forums for info on many ways to make your experience
more enjoyable. Do at your own risk though. The first thing that will happen
when you startup is the machine will set itself up. It will need input from you.
At some point after setup you will be nagged to create a CD set or a DVD
for recovery purposes. Don't mess around do it. (DVD is more handy).
From there it's up to you and how adventurous you are.
In my case I bought a XP Pro retail disk at the same time I bought my
5672. After playing with factory setup and making a restore DVD.
I nuked the entire HDD and installed XP Pro on it with no Acer programs
except the Orbicam software. I have XP installed on the first physical
partition on drive with a small pagefile partition next and a third programs
partition. I also have a Fat32 partition that I can share between XP
and Ubuntu Linux which is installed dual boot on this drive. The above
setup is more advanced than most folks are willing to attempt but
I include it here to illustrate what is possible.
What features did you opt for with you 5672 (Processor, ram size, video
card etc.)
See my sig for my specs.
I plan on upgrading to the Merom proc soon. I did say I was a tinkerer.

^ Thanks for the reply, fjgold1.
Mine has 100 G HD, and 1GB Ram.
I've thought about gettin Vantec Lapcool2 because I keep reading that Acer notbooks, tend to run hot, and where I live it's hot, and I don't use A/C but fan at home.
