I'm now certain I have a lemon. Bought it used for my daughter, keeps acting up as soon as it heats up (video problems, then blue screen) Tried using a pad w/cooler fans under it. The only time it runs cool enough to run a miovie or games for any length of time is if I take the cover off. Has anyone had a similar problem or have any solutions? Help:reallymad

"Take the cover off"? Sorry, but what do you mean--your laptop has a cover?

I was talking about the panel on the bottom that we had to remove to swap out the RAM to see if that was causing the trouble. When we leave it off and place it over the fan on the cooling pad, it behaves for a longer period. If we don't use the DVD to watch movies or games, it seems to run OK. As soon as it starts really working hard to show movies or games, the video goes nuts and we end up with a blue screen. It only takes about 10-15 minutes when the panel is in place. I'm not a techie so I may not be using the technical terms, please excuse my inexperience. Thanks for asking, though.

Those panels that shield the ram are designed to tolerate high levels of heat. If i had to take a guess as to whats killin your notebook I would guess a dud fan in the notebook itself. If you did this off a fresh installation of Windows then its more than likely you have a bad part somewhere within the notebook and if you got the notebook for relatively cheap then I cant see a reason as to why you would spend any more money or time to find out whats causing the issue.
