I just recieved my XPS M1210.
The first thing i did was to reinstall a clean copy of windows.

But i cant install my bluetooth card (Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Internal Module)

I downloaded the drivers from the webpage but when i try to install i get some problems with "One Click". It tells me to connect my computer before I can continue.

Do i have to do anything special to install the bluetooth?

Are you positive you have the bluetooth? If so try to download the drivers again, make your its your comp and everything is right then download it. You should decompress it like all the other driver and just say open and it should start right up. Mine did everytime. It will update the firmware of the card also. I have no clue what One Click is that you were talking about though

Seems to be working sofar.

Not so sure about that anymore. Been installing for an hour now. It goes right to 56% and then stops. Computer doesnt freeze or anything but the installation seems to do nothing.

Do you have any AV or anthing enabled, if so disable and exit out of everything open that doesnt need to be

If you mean AntiVirus i have none.

I am pretty sure that the Bluetooth is not installed. I think that "BCM2045" is the bluetooth device?
http://www.wannerskog.com/BCM2045.jpg

And it wont install. Or else the install takes ridiculously long time.
Install has been on 56% for 2hours now.

Bcm2045 to my knowledge isnt the bluetooth, It should be listed as Dell Wireless Bluetooth 350 INternal Card. Maybe try to take out the card and reseat the cable. I have no clue whats going on there, it may be time to contact dell. Maybe the card is bad.

One more Idea...

Go here..

http://support.euro.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=se&l=sv&s=gen&releaseid=R117967&SystemID=XPS_M1210&os=WW1&osl=EN&deviceid=7388&devlib=0&typecnt=2&vercnt=1&formatcnt=1&libid=5&fileid=156024

And download that driver and try to install it. Let me know how it goes.

I suppose it should be listed as Dell Wireless Bluetooth 350 INternal Card when it is installed. But right now it isnt installed as you can see. I doubt the card is broken since my friend has the exact same problem. I think the bluetooth worked before i reinstalled everyting.

So i do belive this is a drivers issue.

Did you go to the link I gave you and try that?

Yes, that was the first driver i tried. It doesnt work for me or my 2 friends (we all bought the M1210 at the same time). One of my friend tried his bluetooth before he reinstalled his computer and it worked then.

Hi!
For the XPS M1210, the Blueetooth setup upgrades the firmware of the Bluetooth radio (the driver that's available on the web-page). While doing this, the laptop needs to be sonnected to the AC mains power. Doesn't work if you are running on battery.

P.S.: While the setup completes do not use your laptop for anything else. (This I found out from experience).

I own a Inspiron E1505, and recently purchased a dell 350 bluetooth adapter card. I eagerly opened the box and read the instructions which explicitly state:

1. After installing the device, turn on the computer.

2. If the Found New Hardware wizard pops up, cancel it and proceed to the "Installing the Software" Section (it then tells you to insert the given CD and follow the install).

After I turned on the computer, no wizard came up. Windows automatically found and installed the card, but stupidly, I quickly went into Device Manager and uninstalled any drivers that windows had installed, which were neatly folded into a "bluetooth radios" branch in the devmanager.

I popped in the CD and installed, and like stated before, got stuck at 56%. It would ask me to press Fn+F2 to turn on the bluetooth (even though the blue light was in fact on at the time) and when I would, it wouldn't do anything. I even left it for four hours and came back to 56%. I finally pressed "cancel" when it asked me to turn on the Fn+F2, and it cancelled out of the second install window and the install completed, according to the primary install window. but, there was not a trace of anything resembling Bluetooth in the device manager, and the bluetooth util that somehow appeared in my control panel didn't see any adapters installed. I couldn't find any drivers or programs that were installed that could run this magic bluetooth util, or figure out how to get rid of it.

I tried manually telling windows to find a bluetooth device using Add Hardware wizard, but it didnt work and when i tried to disable/uninstall it my device manager would lock up. I eventually had to erase the driver files manually via what it told me in the driver properties, while in safe mode.

At this point, there are no traces of bluetooth installed on the computer in the device manager, the blue light is on, and I cannot get Windows to see the bluetooth card.... I don't know how that is even possible.

The only difference from the driver in the CD and the one I DLed from Dell is that the Dell one keeps asking for me to press Fn+F2 every five minutes while the CD only asks once.

The only thing I see in the DevMan that rings a bell is this device that is listed under the USB controllers: "DELL U2 - CSR Driver" that automatically reinstalls via Windows when I uninstall it.....

I'm not sure what to do at this point other than to backup my sh!t and reinstalling MCE. I am trying to figure out if it is that important or not at this point.

It turned out Dell had given us the 355 card instead of the 350 which we were supposed to have.

Bluetooth up and running now.

Mike,

I am having the *EXACT* same problem that you just explained in installing my bluetooth 350 drivers from Dell. I have the Dell Latitude D820, and whenever I try to install the driver for bluetooth it hangs at 56%.

Could you please explain what you did to fix your problem? I would be most grateful.

Sincerely,
Kazlic

Okay, I was just on the phone for 2 hours with Dell tech support, and I have solved the problem.

On the D820 Latitude notebook from dell, there is a switch on the left-hand side that either enables or disables wireless network stuff (like my 350 bluetooth module).

Needless to say, I had it in the "off" position. =(

It sounds like Mike had the same problem. The reason I got the "Press Fn F2 to enable bluetooth" command was because bluetooth was not currently enabled. I simply need to turn the switch on.

If anybody else is struggling with this problem, hopefully you pick up this forum in your google search.

If its off, the bluetooth light will not be on, I might be wrong with D820!
