hey fellow HP owners
I just bought my DV5137ea a week ago. (specs (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&dlc=en&product=3175657&docname=c00665906)) it did work fone with no problems what so ever.
the I felt like installing the Vista beta 2.0 I got of MS when they went puplic a while ago.
its working really fine.. so the laptop is truely Vista capable and nearly vista premium ready :P
heres some pics
http://img311.imageshack.us/img311/7646/dsc00285kj5.th.jpg (http://img311.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc00285kj5.jpg)
http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/5576/dsc00286nl2.th.jpg (http://img521.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc00286nl2.jpg)
well. to the problems.. first of I had no audio support but I fixed that ez with the drivers from the HP hp (Homepage :p). now I found out that the build in mediacenter (its the Ultimate version of Vista) is having some strange decoder errors.. when I try to start playing a video. (the example ones thats included) then it wont start.. its just saying "Decoder error" on the lower left corner.(watch pic 2 above)
anyone else having the same problem? maybe someone has fixed it?
the visualisor for the music is also freezing. but thats a minor issue since I dont intent to use that anyways.
2nd problem
after installing vista the booting prosess has changed, so now my quickplay fetures has stoped working.. its just booting up the the normal multiboot screan where I can choose either microsoft windows (vista) or "earlyer versions". I choose ealyer versions for the hope of finding anything that has to do with the quickplay still being on the 1gig partision. but no... its just loading into a black screen with a flashing underscore. I gues thats because the boot.ini on C:/ is emty. can anyone help me to find out what to put in the boot.ini ti be able to bootinto QP 2.0 or something?
ohh and yes I did :google: and thats what brought me here.. :)
Best regards

This is kinda normal for a new OS, and is the reason they get volunteers to try it out in advance of a real release. You will probably find more help on one of the Vista support sites (MSFN maybe), since I'd guess that not many around here have installed it yet. Between HP and MS, there may or may not be compatible drivers released yet, and the only way to find it is to start searching.
As for Quickplay, my guess is that the Vista install has altered the Master Boot Record (MBR) and that is what QP2.x uses to control it's launch. Given the massive changes with Vista, it may become a question of them being compatible. IF you willing to risk it, just try reinstalling QP from within vista and it should write a new MBR. Be warned that it might break Vista though.

Those are not silly posts, they're funny.
And I have helped a lot of people, I've uploaded a copy of QPv1 twice, the first time was a P2P connection from Mexico to Turkey and the second time I uploaded it to one of those file hosting servers. Days after I upoloaded it, someone PM me asking me to upload it again, but I searched for my previous upload link on that QPv2 thread that, as a matter of fact, I STARTED, and gave him the link.
I was going to help you and give you the link for QPv2, but then I read AmigaDude's post and I thought it was really funny.
Sorry I made you angry.

Which link are you trying to get it from?
Most of the free sites require you to wait for 45 seconds while ads display... have a pop-up or two..
Regardless, all posts about QuickPlay should go in the QuickPlay thread..

Thanks for posting the "post" number (425)... as it's showing as page #11 for me (have display set to display 40 posts per page, default is 20 I think)
http://www.notebookforums.com/post2284150-425.html
so I split the file into 3 parts about 200 mb each. here are the links:
part 1: http://depositfiles.com/files/151944...part1.rar.html (http://depositfiles.com/files/151944/HPQPDP.part1.rar.html)
part 2: http://depositfiles.com/files/152161/HPQPDP.part2.rar.html (http://depositfiles.com/files/152161/HPQPDP.part2.rar.html)

As a suggestion... if you need QuickPlay 2.0.... if you call HP they will ship you the install disc.

Tell them you paid for it, that you deserve the install disc's... The next thing they will tell you is to "......."
And you get around that by saying"......"
That's what I told them.
D_Zarster
09-06-2006, 02:38 PM
haha.. well I send them a mail back via the support-mail we (me and my mate HP) had going a week ago. now we'll see how helpfull they are and IF they deserve anything but "...." :P

First thing they will probably say is you're using a un-supported OS...
At that point you might point out to them that your machine has stickers? on it that say Vista Compatible?
Second thing (and what I was refering to above) was they will tell you to run a "restore", run the recovery program, either from the hard disc itself, or from the "user" created "recovery disc(s).. that's the standard solution for everything it seems. (can't blame them really)
I told them that I had created the "restore" disc(s) before I deleted the "recovery partition, and that one of the discs had a read error on it, would not work....
You "may" be able to go here to find the PART number of the disc(s) you're needing so you'll have them in front of you to confirm you're going to be sent the right discs.
HP PartSurferhttp://www.partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/main
PS: dv5137ea = dv5000t.... Additionally I posted the part number for QuickPlay install disc several times within the Quickplay thread.

well.. I serched the partsurfer.. I found nothing. (location Denmark)
well.. if you feel like it, theres noone telling you not to post the parts number in here too.. :P
ohh and good point one the OS support.. I should have used that before.. haha.. its spp true

Just for the record, I can pretty much assure you that any CD that HP ships will give you the exact same error. Those who uploaded these CD images for us did an excellent job.
Which error are you getting?

the one I post a screenshot on here http://www.notebookforums.com/thread141817-17.html
1: Please when talking about ERROR codes POST the ERROR code, the text of... instead of doing a "screen shot".:thumbdown
OR
2: Post both the image AND the text of the error code.
http://img104.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc00287me7.jpg
Box in background saying: Installing QuickPlay Direct 2.1
Box in forground saying:
ComponentMoveData Error Information
ComponentMoveData had the following error:
Component: Quick Play Component
File Group:
File:
Error Number: -2147418113
WHY? ... 6 months from now someone (such as yourself) may be searching for a "fix".... and the "image" is more than likely NOT going to still be "hosted"...
Hate when when I run across some good info, people don't post the "error" code in this case.... and the image is "gone".
There was another poster a while back who did the same thing... posting a screenshot of a error code... but never posted the "code" itself in any of his posts.... and a short time after he "got"... "his" answer to "his" problem the image was DELETED....
It would be sort of like someone posting a "image" of the HP QuickPlay 2.0 install disc showing the part number... but no-one posted the part number.... and then the image was deleted.
