Hi!
Here the other day I used my inspiron 9300 on battery. Nothing fancy only as navigator. Turned it of and put in the backpack. tree dayes later i try to turn it on, and no response. only with battery nothing, with powercord nothing, with powercord and without battery nothing. not even a light in any of the charge/power lamps on the laptop, the only light I get is on the ac/dc adaptor.
Maybe I didenīt turn it of and it kept running in the backpack ( idonīt remember) but that shouldenīt kill it right?
9300 centrino 1,8 oc to 2,4
7800 gtx
Has anyone tried this before and found any help.
Thanks in advance!

I am not too familier with the 9300, but the batteries usually have the test button on them with the LEDS indicating the charge level, if so what does it indicate for you.
If you still have a charged battery, and it is not powering up, sounds like the Motherboard could be the problem.
it is possible if the battery is totally discharged, the AC adaptor is not working
But gut feeling is it is the MB gone bad.

Maybe you burnt out the CPU with that overclock. That would prevent it from booting.

Or worse water dmg? Perhaps during the time it was in the the bag it was exposed to water? At this point im blaming the motherboard for the issue until we can do some conclusive tests.

Yeah, if you're not getting a light at all, that sounds like a mobo problem

Part it out. Use the money you make to put towards a new machine. Or if you are patient you can find one on ebay for about 200 bucks.

You may have some luck on Ebay, but it still going to run you around $ 300.00 USD.
Good Luck

Hi!
The new mobo is finally here. Do I also have to use the hacked gen2 bios to use my 7800 gpu or can I just pop it in and start playing?
Thanks in advance!

Yeah you are going to have to flash it. I never used a "hacked' bios before though. I had a 9300 with a 6800 Ultra and I just used the most recent bios for the M170. It worked fine.

I don't know what the diff is between the "hacked" gen2 bios and the normal gen2 bios. I do know you can just flash your bios to the xps2 or M170 bios cause they use the same bios and both bios have support for 7800 series cards.

Once you're all set, go ahead and sell your old mobo on Ebay. Of course, absolutely disclose that it is screwed up, but I can almost guarantee you'll get something for it. Dealers fix them and resell them as "refurbished".

Go to dell.com Go to the support page. Download the newest bios for the xps gen2. It is bios A05. Flash your bios with the A05 bios. It will recognize the 7800.

Hi!
Thanks for the link:-)
When I first bought the 7800 gtx I did everything like discribed in the 7800 gtx thread. But now I can`t get the disck to work. I tried everything.
Burned the iso on a data disc. pressed f12 during booting nothing happens the pc starts loading windows after some time.
Unpacked the iso with isobuster, burned it with nero, same thing the pc loads windows after some time.
Burned the iso on a bootable disc in nero. Then I get some DOS writing on the monitor wich probably is from the disc boot thing from nero but can not find anything from freedos on the disc.
Unpacked the iso with isobuster, then burned it on a bootable disc from nero and same thing.
Does anybody have anything I can put on a zip disc wich I then can use ?( I have a zip drive)
Or just any other ideas how to get the xps bios put on the mobo?
What is really going on my nerves is that i did this one and now it doesen´t work
Thanks in advance!

Make sure your BIOS has the CDROM as one of the bootable devices, I think you don't get an option if you don't have it as such.
If you think the ISO you have might not be bootable, send me an email and I'll reply with an ISO I made myself not too long ago that's worked for some friends.

alternatively just keep pressing f12 a few times (not too fast)...the boot menu should come on after the initial bios screen
