Hey, my friend's laptop has recently run into a problem. Everything that was black on the screen has turned red. She has remedied the problem by opening and closing it a few times, but this time it is permanent. I saw it's wiring in the laptop that is the problem. What is your take on it? I can try to answer any other questions you have. Thanks for your help :D

Well I doubt its wiring if no one has touched it unless you mead the internal wires is dying out because there ripping apart or such. Please aid us by letting us know which notebook model in question were talking about :)

Certainly , I will contact my friend later today about model type. What was also suggested was for my friend to update video driver files. I beleive it might be ripped wires only because it has been a problem in the past and was only remedied by continually opening and closing the laptop. I will get you the info you're looking for later tonight though.

Sort of sounds like the flex cable tearing apart which is common for dell notebooks of older generation and ones with frequent use. Id take a guess that your friend owns a notebook with either a PenitumM series or below computer such as the Inspiron 8000,8100,8200,8500,8600 etc etc. Anyway get back with the model number. In the meantime ask her to try plugging in an external display into her computer such as a monitor or tv and see if the black to red color change is present on the external screen. This will help us limit down what kind of problem were dealing with. Driver updates aare a quick fix you can also try assuming you know which you have. www.dell.com in the support has the latest dell certified drivers which are generally problem free give those a shot.
