Can you put linux on it? Most certainly. What distros you might want to try?
Ubuntu
ELive
PCLinuxOS(Never tried that one myself)
etc.
How well any will work depends on what hardware is on it. Try the live CDs first before you install to get an idea, keep in mind that because they are running from a live cd they will be a bit slower than normal.

Really I did not know that you could load desktop Distros on a PDA.

Heh thats what I get for posting without looking at what it is, I assumed laptop, of course now that you posted that I want to hit myself in the head;)
In that case, you need to do some searching if it is a PDA as how to get it onto that is a specialized process usually. I do NOT reccomend this for someone that is new to linux.

Alright.
Its just laying around and I wanted to put linux on it to play with no big deal.
there is the Familiar Project which is actually designed for the Compaq/HP iPaq series...although something makes me think it works on older dells as well. as far as x30 and x50 go....there is a kernel out there that will boot on either, but currently drivers are severely lacking..not to mention total and complete lack of apps.

Thanks ABF. I hate windows moble 2003 and wanted linux on mine I would proably start using it again. Oh well and from what I have seen PDA's are dead anyways with everything going to smart phones so I guess it will just collect more dust.
well...yuo can use your PDA as a navigation device....just grab yourself one of those adapters.

Nokia 770 or 800....
AHh love.
Funnily enough since I bought my 800 I am getting ready to sell my 770. They are fun little toys and with the GPE suite can work as PDAs, though I wish nokia would realise what most of us are using it for and go ahead and support the GPE suite.
