on my xps m1710, when i right click on my computer and left click on properties under computer the information showing how much ram i have, the number is always changing is that normal or is the ram shot? right now looking at it, it is 977 mhz, 2.00 GB of ram, then other times it will be 2.33 ghz, 2.00 GB of ram
what is going on is that suppose to happen?

Hey I saw you thread had no responses and I believe the answer is quite simple. Your RAM is not changing, but your CPU clock speed is. I to have an M1710 and the processors in these have something called speed step. What it does basically is makes the CPU slower when you are not using much of it thus it is taking less voltage and saving you power. So when you see 997 MHz your CPU was clocked down pretty far and when you saw 2.33 GHz your CPU was basically at full bore. This isn’t a big deal at all and your computer is not shot :thumbup:
