Rummaging through news, procrastinating practicing and all that, came across this little article...

http://www.techspot.com/news/24406-dell-customers-demand-linux.html

Now that you may or may not have read that, go to here...

Apparently a site for customers to suggest improvements to Dell, its interesting to see the top 10 ideas or so. The vast majority of them have to do with putting Linux on the machine, or making it compatible with linux, or just not installing an OS.

Also up there is getting rid of bloatware on a default install, Installing Free Software Alternatives (Firefox, Thunderbird, OpenOffice, etc instead of MS), and stop with the offshoring tech support. Ill throw in a call to make the Dells more environmentally friendly just because I personally think that is important to and often gets overlooked;)

I actually read that Dell is one of the Greenest laptop developers. I'm all for continuing to improve that, even if you have a good reputation.

I think the results of that poll thing is more a result of Slashdot/digg effect. Regardless, hopefully it will produce some positive results. I don't buy Dell hardware, but I would direct people to them if they had linux support.
