I have E1705 Dell with 7800 nvidia card and 2 GB ram.
My motherboard fried couple days back and all i got was blank screen. After 2 hours on the phone, Dell support did come thru and they did onsite repair replaced my motherboard as well got me new 7800 video card.
However thats when the problem started my GPU core temperature is now 90c :wow: running just windows and the computer crashes cause my CPU hits 100% whenever i try to play any game.

Any idea what the problem is? Could it be that new motherboard is having compatability problems with my new Video card (nvidia 7800)? I have reinstalled all my drivers and got A07 bios btw.

Well if your playing a game your CPU util should be roughly at 100% whats it like idle? Also try installing temp apps to control CPU and GPU temps such as www.diefer.de Fangui 8k. It works miracles for most of us.

Well if your playing a game your CPU util should be roughly at 100% whats it like idle? Also try installing temp apps to control CPU and GPU temps such as www.diefer.de (http://www.diefer.de) Fangui 8k. It works miracles for most of us. i have i8kfan, my CPU is at 2% in idle i rarely had my duo t2400 rise over 40% percent while playing a game before. But now even while playing a game at the lowest settings the cpu hits 100%. Right know i think my 2nd fan by the video card is not working since when i turn it on with i8kfangui i cant hear it.
Right now
my cpu is at 2% and temp at 22c
GPU is at 81c

All i have open is firefox. Could overheating GPU core put more load on a CPU?

Absolutely games these days usually hit high load regardless if you think its not using it all the way or not. 81c for idle GPU is rather high. Try forcing the FAN on high for GPU even on idle and see if the temp even drops. 22c for CPU is pretty awesome temp wise sinc I idle at 60c on my T7200.

It sounds like something isn't seated right. I would call dell back and tell them something is wrong. The gpu is hitting extremely high temps when it's not even being used. THey need to come back out and take it apart and make sure everything is seated correctly. It sounds like something didn't get tightened down.
