I've always wanted to be first! :headbang:
Great Idea for a New Forum.
I'm expecting my 8887 tomorrow, and Expect to have some reviews and observations about DVD authoring and Video Editing as soon as I can.
FYI---I use Premiere 6.5 and I'm going to play with several DVD Authoring apps, from Ulead to ReelDVD to Scenarist, so we should be able to get a good discussion going.

So I put the Dvd Burner in bay #2 on the 8887 today. Went well actually had trouble making it last more than 5 min. However the machine does not recognize it as a DVD burner only a CDRW. I would assume it would need a driver of some kind to function-only came with Nero and WinDVD4- Am I missing something here? Also which blank media does this support ? Identifies itself as a Toshiba DVD Rom SD R6012. Solutions?

As for media--any DVD-R/RW should be fine...You can only burn at 1x anyway.
Depending on the project I use Pioneer media for really important projects and off brands more for personal use and backups. The best rule of thumb is disc color--the most compatible media for set top DVD player has been the light purple colored media on the data side of the disc.
The drive should be recognized as a DVD-R fine...do you have Blank DVD Media in it?
Any other units I've worked with recognized the drive capabilities depending on the media in the drive.
I've never actually used Nero, but both Prassi and Roxio both have a selection for DVD-r vs. CD-r.
