The $599 deal at Office Max is tempting me (assuming they have any in stock now). I'm getting rid of some older Pentium M ultraportables and would like to step up a little, including running Vista (did I actually say that????).

I've read some of the threads about USB issues with some 5100 units. Is this machine going to be stable? Will I be happy?

I mostly use my laptops for surfing, email, some VB work if I'm in the mood, dreamweaver design, some photo editing, DVD burning...

Thanks.

I've had the 5102 for 7 months now with no problems at all, never even heard about this USB issues. I don't see why this machine can't be stable, due to the fact that it's usually the OS that causes problems, not the actual hardware. That of course if you don't have hardware failure, but no laptop is completely immune from such problems.

I say for the stuff that you want to do it will be more than enough, and the price makes it a good deal (tho we don't know the exact specs of it).

I just got the 5100-3372 @ Best Buy for $499.00 and I am quite impressed with it! I have used a desktop for years and I am going on an extended vacation and wanted to bring something along with me so I chose the ACER and so far, it has really impressed me. the price can not be beat and the portablility is something I never thought I would need or want. But I have dismantled my desktop and put it storage because this little baby does everything I need and it takes up so little room.
